Here at Little Beast, we believe that making money should go hand in hand with doing good with the money we make. That is why we've partnered with +Purpose to turn you into an impact investor through everything you buy from us. No more round ups, no more asking to donate.

What does +purpose do?

+purpose helps brands give back to causes through impact investing instead of donations.This means the funds we give to our cause partners get invested into the causes directly. After a period of time, those funds are able to come back to us, to re-invest again and again.

Why is this better than donating?

Donations at scale might be a good way to direct a ton of money to an organization but that is if the organization uses the funds efficiently to help. A lot times, donations go straight to paying administrative costs like executive pay and not actual help. When you invest into causes, those funds are going directly to the community that needs the help and support.

What we did with donations in the past and why it didn’t work.

Donating can be good but the way we were doing it previously was not. We were donating 5% of each order to any organization that you chose which at the end of the day, didn’t really amount to a whole lot.

It was too unfocused and spread too thin. Maybe $4 would go to a rescue organization in someone's local town or $30 goes to a large animal shelter. It’s still money but what is the impact of those dollars to these causes, really?

That is why we partnered with +purpose, so we know exactly where these dollars are getting invested into and once we receive those repaid dollars, we are able to re-invest again.

What does it actually mean to “invest” with +purpose?

Now, with +purpose our customers can choose to invest into 1 of 4 causes. This means we can accumulate more money going to a more focused area. So what does that mean? It means that we will put some of our profits into investments that can grow into doing more good. OK, so what does that really mean? We can break that down by individual causes below:

Our Cause Partners

Trufund

1. You choose the cause at checkout and we collect the funds and give to +purpose.
2. +purpose gives those funds directly to the cause, in this case it would be Trufund.
3. Trufund provides loans to BIPOC women in underserved communities to help them open their own business. As these women grow their business, they start repaying back their loan to Trufund.
4. Trufund then takes those repaid $ and gives back to +purpose.
5. +purpose returns those repaid $ to us, the brand.
6. We then take those repaid $ and invest back into TruFund to help more women, fostering a cycle of giving back.
7. REPEAT

EcoTree

1. You choose the cause at checkout and we collect the funds and give to +purpose.
2. +purpose gives those funds directly to the cause, in this case it would be EcoTree.
3. EcoTree plants trees across the world to restore wildlife habitats, mitigate wildfires, and sink carbon. After the trees have been planted, they are able to sell carbon credits to companies. After they sell the carbon credits
4. After EcoTree sells the carbon credits, they then take those repaid $ and give back to +purpose.
5. +purpose returns those repaid $ to us, the brand.
6. We then take those repaid $ and invest it back into Ecotree to plant more trees, fostering a cycle of giving back.
7. REPEAT

BlueHub

1. You choose the cause at checkout and we collect the funds and give to +purpose.
2. +purpose gives those funds directly to the cause, in this case it would be BlueHub.
3. Bluehub provides housing loans to vulnerable communities in America. When these people are able to save their house, they are then able to slowly repay back their loan to BlueHub.
4. BlueHub then takes those repaid $ and gives back to +purpose.
5. +purpose returns those repaid $ to us, the brand.
6. We then take those repaid $ and invest back into Bluehub to help more people who need housing, fostering a cycle of giving back.
7. REPEAT

ASPCA

This one isnt exactly an investment but just a straight up donation. ASCPA does not have an investment ability yet so we just donate! 

ASPCA’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. They provide local and national leadership in three key areas: protecting and rescuing animals from crisis, assisting animals in communities and advancing legal protection for animals.

Lastly,

For now, we focus on these organizations because we feel they best represent the causes we care about. We want to help women around the world empower themselves to be independent and break free from societal constraints. We want to make housing accessible, no one in the world should be homeless. We want more trees in our world and we want more animals to be saved. Our causes we feature will definitely be rotated throughout the year but we feel like this is a good starting four.
